Care instructions for washable fabrics

Wash your slipcovers in cold water only on gentle cycle.

Fill the Tub with water before adding the detergent.

Use mild detergent - DO NOT USE BLEACH OR ANY DETERGENTS CONTAINING WHITENERS OR BLEACH SUBSTITUTES. DO NOT USE WOOLITE.

Do Not Pour detergent directly on to slipcovers.

Tumble dry the slipcovers LOW HEAT ONLY.

Remove slipcovers from dryer when the seams (piping/welting) are slightly damp.

Replace slipcovers on furniture bodies by gripping the slipcover from the seams (piping/welting) only. Any subsequent adjustments should be made by grasping the slipcover from the seams (piping/ welting) to avoid ripping or stretching the fabric.

Extreme temperatures and strong agitation will wear and damage natural fibers.

The average slipcover takes two loads to wash. The pillow/cushion covers go in one load, and the body goes in another.

Some of our clients prefer to use the industrial sized washers and dryers found at their local Laundromat, but most clean their slips at home.

Always wash the entire slipcover at once (not only a seat cover) to ensure natural and gradual fading over time. Similar to your clothing, your slipcover may stretch a bit with wear and will tighten up with every washing.

Do not soak slipcover. Please note that the pillow and cushion cream-colored upholstery (Take out covers) underneath the slipcover come DRY CLEAN ONLY.

Because color fastness cannot be guaranteed, note that on a "mixed" slipcover (when more than one fabric is chosen to create a slipcover), the dye used in these fabrics may "bleed" onto another fabric that has been sew together to create the "mixed slip" look. Although a rarity, it is a possibility. Please pour 1/4 cup white vinegar into the washing to stop any "bleeding" on mixed slips.

Care instructions for upholstered pieces

Use a damp cloth with cold water Too much water can stain the fabric Spray a small amount of the stain spray on a damp cloth Gently remove the stain.

Do not add excessive pressure when cleaning the spot Finally use a clean dry cloth to soak up the excess water and spray

Care Instructions for Silk

DRY CLEAN ONLY

Silk is especially weakened by sunlight and perspiration.

In the event of a spill or spot, temporally rub table salt or baby powder into the spill or spot until dry cleaning can be preformed.

Care Instructions for Hair on Hides

Hair on Hides is natural and, if properly cared for, will maintain its beauty and usefulness for many years. It is also advised that Hair on Hides be kept away from radiators or other generators of heat.

Periodic vacuuming with a soft brush attachment is recommended for normal maintenance of all Hair on Hides. For deeper cleaning, use a small amount of mild soap heavily diluted with distilled water. Blot spills as quickly as possible using a clean white cloth. Never use any commercial household cleaner as many contain harsh chemicals or other substances that may cause an adverse reaction to those hides used in the tanning process.

Care Instructions for Leather

Subtle variations in tone and intensity are completely natural and give individual character to each hide of our top quality leather. Our leathers are soft, and have a very smooth surface.

Visible insect-bites, wrinkles, scars and even branding marks add to the elegant character and beauty of our leather.

Wood Care

Care of your wood furniture

All fine wood furniture should have as stable an environment as possible. A fairly constant temperature and humidity level should be maintained near and around your wood pieces. Moisture can cause wood to expand and/or contract. This can cause joints or flat areas to bow and move. Extreme heat will crack any quality wood products.

Intense, direct and prolonged exposure to sunlight will cause your furniture to dry out and may even fade over time. Careful attention must be paid to placement in your home, as there is no finish legally available in the United States that can totally suppress the sun's ultraviolet rays.

We recommend never leaving standing water on any wood surface, regardless of finish. Generally, dry dusting is adequate.

Cushions Care

Care information for Featherblend and Down

When you first receive your furniture please be aware that some necessary initial use (ABOUT 2 MONTHS) is to achieve the same softness you experienced in your Quatrine showroom. Cushions arrive overstuffed to provide the best comfort in the long run vs. the short term.

Please be aware that the feathers will break down over time as they are a natural product. As you sit on the feathers, you are bending and softening the spines of the feathers. After much use you will not be able to fluff or rotate your cushions any longer, this is the time to purchase new cushions or inserts!
